Overview Jennifer Owings Dewey is a nationally known author and illustrator of books for children and adults. Dewey is the daughter of architect Nathaniel Owings, a founding partner in Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and Emily Otis Owings Barnes, the daughter of a director of the Santa Fe Railroad in Chicago.
