Scope and Content Note

From the Collection:

Donald A. Blair and Bettina Steinke originally opened Blair Galleries in 1949 in Claremore, Oklahoma. The couple moved to New Mexico in 1955 and opened Blair Galleries, Ltd. in 1965 in Taos, New Mexico. In 1968, Blair opened a second gallery at The Compound on Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the couple later moved to Santa Fe in 1970. The Compound on Canyon Road became home, studio, and gallery for the Blairs, but by 1988 the Blairs had established business offices and a studio at 462 Acequia Madre in Santa Fe. Bettina died on July 11, 1999 and Donald died shortly after on September 18, 2000.

The Blair Galleries, Ltd. Records contain materials primarily relating to the sale of two Georgia O'Keeffe oil paintings to Mr. and Mrs. George M. Harris.
