Overview

Collection consists of one home video recording by Clyde C. Hudson on VHS. Video highlights include Clyde and Mildred Hudson and their children at the Aspen Festival, Aspen, Colorado with Mario Bacchelli and Herbert Bayer in summer 1949; Clyde and Mildred Hudson with Leslie Buchmand and Mario Bacchelli at the dedication of the Alfred Stieglitz Collection at Fisk University, Nashville, Tennessee. Georgia O'Keeffe is seen on stage at the dedication ceremony at the Fisk Memorial Chapel. Additional footage throughout includes travels in Colorado, horseback riding, and a Memphis Boy Scout troop gathering.

Biographical and Historical Note

Clyde C. Hudson (1907-1990) and Mildred Nyrop Hudson (1910-2000) were faculty at the Memphis College of Art. Mildred established the Saturday School for Youth at MCA, and during her time as Director (1943-1949), created Bursar and Registrar positions and added a supply store and library to the college. The Memphis College of Art closed in 2020.

Georgia O'Keeffe (1887-1986) gifted and installed the Alfred Stieglitz Collection at Fisk University in 1949. This was part of the estate distribution following the death of Alfred Stieglitz (1864-1946).
