Biographical and Historical Note
The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum Research Center opened in July 2001 and plays an integral role in the mission of the Museum. It is one of the few museum-related research facilities in the world dedicated to the study of American Modernism and is a member of the Association of Research Institutes in Art History (ARIAH).
Research in American Modernism is pursued through an academic fellowship program, as well as through programs such as public lectures, a triennial Book Prize, symposia, and other activities. In addition, the Research Center invites a distinguished individual in museum studies for one month each year to explore museum issues and practices.
The Research Center has library and archival collections related to Georgia O'Keeffe and her contemporaries and cultivates unique collections to further research on Georgia O'Keeffe, American Modernism, and related regional histories to place O'Keeffe in her context.
