Congressional candidate in 1958 and 1960 from California, Helen (Rudd) Brown is the granddaughter of William Jennings Bryan (three-time candidate for President and Secretary of State under Woodrow Wilson) and the daughter of Ruth Bryan Owen, who was the first woman elected to Congress in the South, serving as Representative from Florida from 1928 to 1932.
