Passport, 1974-1983
Scope and Contents Note
The Georgia O'Keeffe / Alfred Stieglitz Papers includes a wide variety of personal documents, providing unique insight into O'Keeffe and Stieglitz's personal finances, business practices, hobbies and interests, and connections to other artists. Includes land deeds, warranty deeds, and quitclaim deeds for O'Keeffe's Abiquiu property. Financial records from the 1930s-1940s include taxes for O'Keeffe and Stieglitz as well as Stieglitz's bank statements with checks issued. Identification papers and personal effects for O'Keeffe include her birth certificate, passport, social security card, and medical cards, along with museum membership cards. O'Keeffe's 1960 tour of Asia is documented through a Donald L. Ferguson travel notebook, receipts, maps, and other ephemera. Cooking materials include booklets, receipts, clippings, and advertisements, and reflect O'Keeffe's interest in nutrition, healthy eating, and modern kitchen appliances. Portfolios, folders, and other empty enclosures in the collection sometimes contain O'Keeffe's and/or Stieglitz's writing, possibly referring to previous enclosure contents and exhibitions. The collection also includes Joni Mitchell's album cover for Mingus with a dedication to O'Keeffe, and Todd Webb's photography of O'Keeffe's Museum of Modern Art exhibition.
