Overview

Monthly bank statements to Stieglitz from Guaranty Trust Company of New York for two different accounts. The checking account statements include checks written by Stieglitz that have been deposited and returned. Most, but not all, checks for each statement are accounted for. Checks written in Alfred Stiegltiz’s handwriting include businesses and individuals such as Andrew Droth, Dorothy Norman, John Marin, Georgia Engelhard, Dial Press, Kodak, Milton and Katherine Stearns, E.C. Zoler, telephone company, pharmacy, etc. To Georgia O’Keeffe not as common and include: 7/23/1942 for $150 with note "Bement"; 12/14/1942 for $400 with note "[illegible] B. Straus"; 12/30/1942 $600 with note "Refund rent service food etc."; 11/19/1943 $1000 with note "[illegible] James 500.00"; 5/16/1944 $500 with note "Ludington"; 6/1/1944 $4500 with note [illegible $4500 1500]; 10/26/1944 $1200 with note "Ludington"; 11/15/1944 $1500 with note "Ludington"; 4/27/1946 $2000 with note "Loan".
